Associate Cost Manager -Water/Utilities

Overview

In this role you drive cost management and commercial excellence on infrastructure projects, collaborating with clients and contractors to keep programmes on budget and achieve value. You will lead contract administration, cost forecasting, and change management while guiding teams toward governance and best practices. This is a client-facing, leadership-heavy position in a dynamic, project-driven environment with significant impact on project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Establish professional relationships with clients and project teams
• Administer contracts per project objectives and policies
• Provide accurate cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to completion
• Monitor cost variance and cash flow; ensure timely applications
• Collaborate with client and contractor teams on KPIs, programme performance, cost control and value engineering
• Manage contract change and governance, aiming for best practice
• Improve forecast and budget accuracy
• Provide commercial support to stakeholders
• Negotiate and finalise accounts
• Lead people and commissions as needed

Key requirements

• Proven cost/commercial management experience
• MRICS (preferred)
• NEC3 contracts (especially Option C – Target Cost)
• Post-contract administration experience
• Experience on major programmes and projects
• Infrastructure project experience (rail, air, marine/ports, utilities or highways)
• Experience in leading and managing teams
