Specialist Clinical Pharmacist

Overview

Innovative clinical pharmacist role within Hywel Dda’s Mental Health Pharmacy Team at Glangwili General Hospital. You’ll develop specialist knowledge and support mental health care across acute, older adult, and secure settings, collaborating with MDTs to improve patient outcomes. The role offers a pathway to the Aston University Psychiatric Therapeutics Certificate and cross-site medicines optimisation work. Travel between sites is expected as services span multiple counties. This is a supportive, development-focused opportunity to shape mental health pharmacotherapy.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning and delivery of medicines optimisation across the board
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patient-centred care across settings
• Provide cross-site pharmacy services and travel as needed to support Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion
• Support development of clinical skills and specialist knowledge, including pursuing postgraduate certification
• Engage in teaching/supervision of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and students

Key requirements

• Masters degree in pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent experience
• Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Knowledge of medicines management systems and NHS processes
• Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
• Experience or ability to teach/supervise staff and students
• Flexibility to undertake emergency duty and travel between sites
• Commitment to continuing professional development
• Welsh language ability desirable (level 1)
