Director, Debt Finance (Fund Finance)

Overview

As Director in HSBC Innovation Banking’s Strategic Fund Solutions (SFS) Debt Finance team, you will lead senior client coverage for Private Equity and Venture Capital relationships and oversee fund finance facilities. You will provide senior oversight on complex credit and legal issues, mentor junior staff, and drive end-to-end execution for high-profile clients. You’ll collaborate with Origination and Coverage to deliver exceptional service and pursue cross-sell opportunities, shaping the client experience. This role offers impact through strategic financing structures and strong client partnerships within a globally connected bank.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior oversight across a portfolio of Private Equity and Venture Capital clients
• Escalation point for VPs and team on complex credit and legal issues
• Guide and train junior team members on all Debt Finance aspects
• Lead end-to-end execution and maintenance of Fund Finance facilities for high-profile clients
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional client service, especially Origination and Coverage
• Act on cross-sell leads to broaden product offering and improve client experience

Key requirements

• Very strong Fund Finance experience with credit, structuring, and legal documentation know-how
• Knowledge of FX and common Fund Finance structures at Fund and Manager level
• Proficiency in Excel and CRM systems
• Experience running multiple workflows in a fast-moving portfolio; strong deadline management and delegation
• Deep understanding of the VC/PE industry and underlying finance solutions
• Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate, plan, and lead with empathy
