Project Cost Consultant – Energy

Overview

In this role you will lead commercial management for major energy and transmission projects, advising on cost and procurement across the project lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with clients, project teams and senior management to support feasibility, procurement, contract administration and construction, shaping value and risk responses. You’ll contribute to bid development, cost planning and commercial decision-making, delivering robust cost plans and practical solutions. Responsibilities

• Provide commercial leadership across a portfolio of projects and guide clients through commercial challenges
• Develop robust cost plans and advise on procurement and contract strategies
• Support contract administration activities, cost reporting, change control and risk management
• Contribute to bid development and cost planning throughout the project lifecycle
• Identify commercial risks and propose practical, value-adding solutions
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors and project teams across stages of delivery

Key requirements

• commercially-minded Quantity Surveyor or Cost Consultant with infrastructure, utilities or energy project delivery experience
• strong experience in cost control, estimating, budgeting and cost planning
• good understanding of contract administration and commercial management processes (change control, valuations, risk management, procurement)
• knowledge of NEC contracts (Options A, C and E) and industry measurement methodologies
• ability to identify and manage commercial risks and advise project teams
• excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; capable of working independently with multiple priorities
• experience in a consultancy environment and with multidisciplinary teams
• degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Law or related discipline; chartered status with RICS or commitment to achieve
