Technical Lead, Lending & Savings

Overview

As Technical Lead for Lending & Savings, you will define the architecture and lead a small team to build scalable, secure crypto savings and lending products. You’ll work closely with the Business Lead and designers to translate product vision into reliable systems, while remaining hands-on and mentoring engineers. You drive engineering excellence, architecture decisions, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver impactful, customer-focused solutions. This role offers a chance to shape core crypto financial infrastructure at a global scale.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical direction and architecture for the Lending & Savings platform
• Design scalable, secure, and highly available distributed systems
• Make architectural decisions balancing scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
• Contribute production-quality code and review critical changes
• Drive engineering best practices across design, testing, deployment, observability, and ops
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and day-to-day leadership
• Own delivery of technical initiatives from design to production
• Translate product requirements into technical solutions with cross-functional teams
• Break down complex initiatives into milestones and execution plans
• Identify technical risks early and propose pragmatic solutions
• Ensure services remain resilient, performant, and secure as the platform scales
• Partner with Product Lead, designers, and other teams to improve user journeys and platform reliability
• Lead and grow a small engineering team, fostering ownership and high standards
• Recruit and raise engineering standards across code quality, testing, docs, and ops
• Improve engineering productivity through automation and modern practices
• Promote AI-assisted tooling to boost efficiency while maintaining quality and security

Key requirements

• Strong backend experience with Kotlin or Java
• Experience designing distributed, event-driven systems using Kafka or similar
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational design
• Experience with Redis or NoSQL technologies
• Understanding of microservices, APIs, and cloud-native apps
• Experience with monitoring, observability, incident response, and production operations
• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills
• Proven track record shipping production systems processing financial transactions
• Experience leading hands-on engineering teams and delivering from planning to production
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences
