Risk Manager

Overview

In this role you will own and lead risk management for projects and the business line, serving as the go-to contact for risk across the PMO. You will implement and embed a modern risk management system and culture, supporting project teams and business leaders to identify, assess and mitigate risk. You will drive quantitative and qualitative risk analysis on schedules, support tender risk engagement, and help ensure best-practice risk processes across multiple sites. This is a hands-on leadership role in a regulated, nuclear context with potential reporting line to the Project Controls Manager and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine project risk management processes, templates, and continuous improvement
• Oversee project risk activities to ensure procedures are followed and risks are managed
• Assist project teams with risk management and facilitate risk reviews
• Implement risk modelling on live projects and promote risk management culture
• Lead and train risk management competency within the PM community and wider business
• Update risk controls processes to align with best practice; implement a new risk management system in 2026
• Support tender risk management and risk modelling on live tender schedules
• Facilitate business-level risk workshops, manage the business line risk register, and attend risk committees
• Support corporate risk management with process updates and risk scoring
• Manage a team of staff and supply chain resources to support risk work across business lines

Key requirements

• 5+ years of risk-related work experience
• Experience in Project Controls including cost management, schedule management, and strategic planning (P6)
• Knowledge of risk management methodologies and lifecycle across projects
• Willingness to travel within the UK
• PC-literate with Microsoft Excel and strong written communication
• Desirable: project management or controls experience; understanding of nuclear processes; experience in regulated industries; full UK driving licence
