Maintenance Engineer

Overview

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will safeguard the reliability and availability of production equipment in a multi‑skilled team. You will work on technically advanced machine tools and CNC equipment, applying proactive and reactive maintenance to support safe manufacturing of critical aerospace components. The role involves fault diagnosis, interpretation of drawings, and continuous improvement within a safety‑driven environment. Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance on production equipment
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs on complex mechanical systems
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation
• Support maintenance and optimisation of CNC machine tools and associated equipment
• Navigate PLC controls and HMIs to aid fault finding
• Record, prioritise and manage maintenance activities through the CMMS system
• Identify spare parts requirements and support maintenance planning
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance

Key requirements

• Completed time‑served engineering maintenance apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or demonstrable maintenance engineering experience
• Strong fault‑finding and repair experience on mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, machine tools)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assemblies and schematics
• Experience using CMMS to manage maintenance activities
• Safety conscious in a manufacturing/engineering environment
