Overview

Senior Procurement Specialist at McDermott leads procurement within the project management team, applying best practices to strengthen the procurement discipline. You will mentor less experienced colleagues and manage high-volume procurement packages across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and client needs. You solve moderately complex problems, control costs, and ensure timely delivery within guidelines. You will shape procurement strategy, coordinate with clients and vendors, and drive continuous improvement across projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement strategy within the Project Management Team, incorporating contract requirements and project flow-down conditions
  • Develop a Project Procurement execution plan covering purchasing, expediting, logistics, and project goals
  • Serve as a single point of contact for client and procurement requirements; address supply chain needs
  • Identify problems early and implement corrective actions; participate in dispute resolution and performance issues
  • Maintain auditable procurement files and project filing/retention procedures
  • Ensure adherence to project schedule and oversee all supply chain activities within projects
  • Facilitate project reviews and transfer lessons learned to peers
  • Manage procurement packages including budget, expenditures, change orders, and payments
  • Provide independent advisory support to the Project Management Team and SCM function
  • Support the SCM Function and Reporting Manager as required

Key requirements

  • 6–10 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent; HSD/GED/IGCSE with 6 years of experience also accepted
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and manage priorities
  • Experience handling multiple procurement packages across projects and tight timelines
  • Ability to interpret customer needs and provide solutions for standard/nonstandard requests
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices and cost control within projects
  • Experience with project documentation and auditable files
  • Knowledge of SP Mat/SharePoint migration tool or Oracle is preferred
  • Capable of coaching others and promoting teamwork
