Associate Director – Programme Management

Overview

In this role you will lead and shape major capital programmes, guiding delivery across complex construction environments to realise benefits for clients. You will work closely with the Programme Director and cross‑functional teams to establish clear direction, robust governance, and trusted client partnerships. You will steer early-stage definition through to benefits realisation, balancing strategic leadership with project-level detail. Responsibilities

• End-to-end programme leadership and direction; shape vision, empower teams, drive delivery cohesion
• Maintain and operate assurance frameworks for robust programme control and benefits realisation
• Lead commissions management, commercial governance, client satisfaction, and growth opportunities
• Design structured stakeholder engagement frameworks across seniority levels
• Oversee financial governance, reporting, and overall financial oversight of the programme
• Identify and mitigate health and safety risks; implement programme-wide risk management
• Lead people management, talent development, and promote inclusive team culture

Key requirements

• Proven experience delivering complex transformation/real estate programmes (100-300m+) with tangible client benefits
• Strong programme delivery background in construction environments; progression to programme delivery management
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams (project management, controls, technical, commercial)
• Understanding of construction delivery models, procurement routes and contracts (NEC, JCT)
• Knowledge of project controls: scheduling, cost control, risk and opportunity management
• Senior client-facing communication and data presentation skills
• Supply chain management experience
• Experience with industry best practice programme management methodologies in real estate
• Practical knowledge of health and safety requirements including CDM and Building Safety Act
• Strong people leadership and talent development abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and programme management tools; data, digital tools, and AI awareness
• Degree or postgraduate level in Engineering/Construction Management/Quantity Surveying; professional accreditation (RICS/CIOB/APM)
