Senior Data Scientist

Overview

In this Senior Data Scientist role within Hastings Direct’s Pricing team, you will drive advanced pricing insights and model-based decisions to support fair, accurate pricing and sustainable growth. You’ll work with a large data ecosystem to improve pricing strategies, evaluate performance, and deploy models into live pricing. You’ll collaborate across the Pricing, Data and Analytics community to innovate, experiment with new approaches, and mentor junior analysts. Responsibilities

• Challenge and modernize insurance pricing through innovative solutions
• Own pricing change delivery from concept to live deployment
• Identify and extract value from new data opportunities
• Develop models to predict claims outcomes, fraud and risk KPIs
• Support the development of junior analysts within the team

Key requirements

• 3–6 years’ experience in data science roles
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Azure ML, Git, Azure Cloud Services (Essential)
• Track record of delivering ML projects from EDA to deployment and post-deployment evaluation
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision (Essential)
• Knowledge of the UK motor insurance market (Desirable)
• Nearly / newly qualified actuary (Desirable)
