Consultant – Manager, Non- Life Actuarial – Reserving

Overview

In this role you join Deloitte’s Actuarial Insurance practice to deliver technically-driven actuarial work within a broad transformation and technology context. You will work on client projects across reservations, M&A, and internal audit, while developing consulting and leadership skills. You will manage small teams, own delivery packages, and contribute to business development. The role blends actuarial expertise with strategic advisory in a dynamic, collaborative environment that prioritises client impact and career growth.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a broad range of client projects with a technical actuarial focus
• Develop consulting skills and engage with non-actuaries in client settings
• Take ownership of work packages ensuring timely and quality delivery
• Lead small teams (approximately 1–5 members)
• Identify and escalate risks and issues
• Support business development and practice management with senior colleagues
• Involvement in reserving (GAAP, Solvency UK, IFRS 17) across Lloyd’s & London Market and global business lines
• Participate in M&A advisory, internal audit support, and related advisory work
• Engage in Finance, Capital and Business Partnering transformation projects, including post-merger integration and AI/Gen AI initiatives
• Contribute to underwriting & pricing transformation efforts

Key requirements

• Experience of the UK non-life insurance industry
• Strong reserving background across several lines
• Ability to apply actuarial knowledge in practical, commercial contexts
• Track record of owning and delivering packages or small projects
• Self-starting with ability to build rapport and relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Desirable: knowledge of Python
• Desirable: knowledge of GenAI
• Desirable: strong exam progress or newly qualified
