Managing Quantity Surveyor

Overview

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial function on major civil infrastructure/highways projects for a growing national contractor. You’ll work closely with clients and subcontractors to maximise value while controlling costs, and support multi-disciplinary teams to optimise contracts. This role offers mentoring, networking, and exposure to high-profile projects, with a strong emphasis on growth and industry impact. You will be pivotal in delivering quality commercial outcomes and shaping project success.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function for civils/highways projects
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors
• Ensure contracts are well managed, with proper procurement and payments to subcontractors
• Monitor contract progression and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to optimise cost and value
• Assess changes to projects and communicate cost implications sensitively

Key requirements

• Experience as Managing Quantity Surveyor or senior commercial leader
• Background in heavy civils or civil infrastructure
• Experience with main contractors, regional contractors, or subcontractors
• Ability to manage contracts, procurement, and payments
• Strong cost control and value-for-money focus
