As Head of Real Estate at Markel Law, you will lead and grow a growing real estate practice within a broader commercial law team. You’ll shape the strategic direction, develop key client relationships, and supervise the fee-earning group to deliver high-quality property work. You will oversee complex transactions and help deliver integrated property solutions across the firm, partnering with senior leadership. Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Real Estate practice and shape its strategy
- Supervise, mentor and develop fee earners and support staff
- Drive client relationships and business development
- Oversee high-value and complex real estate transactions (acquisitions, disposals, leases, development projects)
- Ensure consistency and quality of legal output across the team
- Collaborate with Head of Commercial and other partners to deliver integrated property and commercial solutions
- Contribute to automation, templates, and process improvements
- Manage budgets, resourcing, and financial objectives for profitable growth

- Extensive senior-level experience across real estate work
- Track record of managing complex matters and significant transactions
- Strong commercial skills and success in client acquisition and business development
