Mechanical CAD Engineer

Overview

As a Mechanical CAD Engineer in the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit, you translate design engineer specs into precise CAD models and process diagrams for the Small Modular Reactor. You work within a cross-functional CAD/BIM team to deliver integrated layouts, 2D diagrams, and data-managed components, while upholding standards and QA. You’ll set up CAD tools, templates, and training, and mentor junior staff to sustain high-quality engineering outputs. This role offers exposure to high-security, regulated projects with strong internal growth and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Develop layout solutions from concept to construction based on specs
• Create component CAD models and definitions adhering to standards
• Generate 2D process, instrumentation, and ventilation diagrams
• Assist in product configuration and data management
• Perform peer reviews to ensure model and definition quality
• Set up and maintain CAD tools, templates, standards, QA processes, and training materials
• Provide CAD expertise, training, and mentorship to CAD/BIM team and junior staff

Key requirements

• Experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer or similar role
• Proficient in 2D CAD (AutoCAD) for precise drawings
• Skilled in 3D CAD/BIM (Revit, Inventor, Solidworks, Solid Edge, Siemens NX, PDMS, AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar)
• Professionally qualified in an engineering-related field
• SC Clearance or capability to obtain it
