Software Engineering Specialist

Overview

As a Software Engineering Specialist, you will build and improve tooling for cyber security challenges. You’ll lead frontend UI work for a technical user base, shape platform improvements, and ensure reliable, scalable delivery through CI/CD and Kubernetes. You’ll work directly with customers, translate needs into robust solutions, and mentor peers while advancing best practices. This role offers impactful, mission-driven work within a fast-growing security program at BT.

Responsibilities

• Create powerful user interfaces for a technical audience
• Develop resilient, well-tested code and conduct code reviews
• Influence technology choices and keep up with best practices
• Ensure platform performance, availability, and reliability SLAs
• Build and maintain automation tools for deployments, scaling, and failover
• Contribute to CI/CD improvements for faster software delivery
• Identify and improve inefficient workflows and engage in knowledge sharing
• Support Platform users and engage with end users to understand needs

Key requirements

• Experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Ruby
• React, NodeJS experience
• Unit and system testing, linters
• Docker container build and deployment
• Kubernetes application development and troubleshooting
• Tracker/workflow tools (e.g., Jira)
• Scripting with Bash or Python
• Documentation of system design decisions
