Senior Research Director – BCG Institute

Overview

In this senior role, you will lead BCG Institute’s Geopolitics & Technology agenda and shape global discourse. You translate deep research into strategic insights for senior leaders and policymakers, influencing firm-wide priorities and client work. You will mentor researchers, build partnerships with universities and think tanks, and represent BCG in top outlets and forums. This position offers high visibility and impact at the intersection of policy, technology, and business strategy, enabling systemic insights that drive strategic transformation.

Responsibilities

• Define and steward the Institute’s global thought leadership on Geopolitics & Technology
• Lead high-impact research initiatives across topics like trade policy, defense, AI, cybersecurity, and digital sovereignty
• Author flagship thought leadership and represent BCG in top-tier outlets
• Partner with leadership to integrate geopolitical insights into client engagements
• Build, mentor, and scale a research team and external partnerships
• Embed geopolitical foresight into commercial and intellectual agendas across Practice Areas

Key requirements

• PhD in Political Science, International Affairs, Computer Science, or related field
• 10+ years in geopolitics, technology policy, international relations, or related area
• Proven record of influential publications and public engagement
• Experience building and scaling major research programs or think tanks
• Experience advising C-suite executives and policymakers
• Strong executive presence and credibility at top levels of business and government
