Python Software Engineer, Trading Platform

Overview

In this role you join a newly formed team that builds tools and infrastructure for Traders and Quant Researchers. You will help expand DRW’s trading platform by delivering cutting-edge software and promoting engineering best practices. You’ll work with engineers, traders, and researchers across the firm on high-impact projects and optimize live systems. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to shape in-house technology and accelerate analytics workflows within a fast-moving trading environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day technology requirements of proprietary trading systems
• Accelerate trading and research workflows by expanding in-house infrastructure
• Evaluate new technologies and deprecate legacy code to improve the tech stack
• Collaborate with engineers, traders, and researchers to design custom frameworks or end-user solutions
• Write performance-sensitive code and user-friendly APIs for data analysis infrastructure
• Lead design discussions and conduct code reviews to uphold quality standards

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline
• Minimum 3 years’ experience building demanding, live Python systems
• Strong Python knowledge (3.11+), and up-to-date with Python ecosystem
• Solid understanding of data structures
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of CI software (TeamCity or Jenkins)
• Familiarity with Linux
• Ability to mentor others and lead small projects
