Overview

In this role, you lead the Fraud Prevention Centre’s identity fraud advisory, assurance, and risk assessment services to embed fraud protection in service design and delivery. You will coordinate a small specialist team, engage senior stakeholders, and translate complex fraud concepts into practical guidance and evidence-based reporting. The role focuses on early identification of identity fraud risks and strengthening controls across projects and live services. This is a strategic, impact-driven opportunity to advance public money protection and service resilience within HMRC.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Identity Fraud advisory, assurance, and risk assessment services for HMRC projects and services
  • Head the FPC Service Clinic, Identity Fraud Guardrails, and Keyholder Co-ordination processes
  • Lead Identity Fraud Risk Assessments across HMRC services and refine IFRA tooling and materials
  • Engage senior stakeholders to shape demand, coordinate subject-matter input, and ensure fraud protection requirements are understood
  • Provide leadership to a small specialist team, develop guidance and tools, and drive continuous improvement
  • Represent FPC in governance forums and deliver clear, evidence-led reporting to support decision-making
  • Ensure consistent, auditable guardrail application and transparent risk-based decision-making

Key requirements

  • Experience leading advisory, assurance, risk management, or control-related services in a complex organisation
  • Ability to lead delivery through others and coordinate input from multiple specialist functions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with senior engagements
  • Experience applying standards and guardrails to support risk-based decision making
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and identifying control gaps
  • Excellent communication skills with evidence-led recommendations and senior reporting
  • Willingness to achieve CISMP or hold it already
