Health Safety & Environment Manager

Overview

In this role you drive the HSE improvement agenda on the Milton Keynes site, partnering with operations to raise safety standards and ensure compliance. You will lead on management systems, audits, and regulator liaison to deliver measurable safety and environmental improvements. You’ll influence leadership and frontline teams to embed a proactive safety culture and align with Refresco’s UK HSE objectives. This is a hands-on position on the factory floor with cross-functional collaboration and a clear impact on site performance.

Responsibilities

• Support and improve site HSE systems and compliance
• Provide practical HSE guidance to managers and employees
• Promote proactive safety culture through audits, risk assessments, and safety initiatives
• Lead incident investigations and support continuous improvement
• Manage HSE reporting, KPIs, audits, emergency preparedness, and PPE compliance
• Collaborate with HR to support environmental and occupational health objectives
• Liaise with regulators (Environment Agency) and HSE Expert teams to ensure consistency across sites
• Contribute to the UK HSE improvement agenda and site-wide governance

Key requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
• minimum of five years’ experience in an HSE Officer or similar role
• experience in a busy manufacturing or engineering environment
• proven track record of empowering others to achieve HSE performance through safety initiatives across both blue- and white-collar workforce
