OT Cyber Security Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead Smith+Nephew’s global OT cybersecurity programme, shaping the strategy to secure manufacturing technologies. You will partner with IT, engineering and manufacturing to manage risk while keeping operations resilient and enabling digital transformation. You’ll establish governance and oversee security across OT environments, aligning with IEC 62443 and NIST standards. You will drive security by design on major OT projects and coordinate incident response to protect patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own and define the global OT cybersecurity programme and embed it into design, operation and support of manufacturing technologies
• Guide cross-functional stakeholders (cybersecurity, IT, engineering, manufacturing) to balance risk, compliance and operational continuity
• Define governance, lead risk management activities, and provide technical oversight across OT environments with IEC 62443 and NIST alignment
• Collaborate with OT architecture and engineering to influence design decisions and support secure modernisation across sites
• Act as cybersecurity lead for major OT projects, applying security by design from the outset
• Coordinate incident response for OT security events and ensure rapid, effective action
• Embed cybersecurity into everyday operations through regional partnerships and a sustainable global approach

Key requirements

• Strong OT/industrial cybersecurity experience in manufacturing or critical infrastructure
• Clear understanding of ICS technologies and risks
• Proven ability to lead programmes and influence across engineering, IT and business without direct control of implementation teams
• Solid knowledge of IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82, NIST CSF and ISO standards
• Experience leading teams and building capability with a focus on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills across levels to balance operational risk, compliance and innovation
