Director of Clinical Services

Overview

As Director of Clinical Services you will lead clinical provision across two wards, ensuring safe, high-quality care and a patient-centered experience. You will be a key member of the Hospital Senior Management Team, driving continuous improvement and supporting clinical teams to achieve strong patient outcomes. This role combines clinical leadership with governance across nursing and therapy services in a mental health setting, offering scope to shape culture and performance. You will work closely with colleagues to align care delivery with the hospital’s mission and patient needs, at a facility focused on community reintegration.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall clinical leadership for nursing and therapy services
• Oversee safe, effective, high-quality delivery of care across two wards (R&R and Acute)
• Drive continuous improvement and patient-centered culture
• Collaborate across hospital to support clinical teams and achieve outcomes
• Ensure resources and support enable teams to deliver optimal patient experience
• Promote governance, quality and safety in daily operations

Key requirements

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council
• Supervisory or managerial experience in a relevant clinical setting
• Minimum 2 years as Ward Manager or equivalent
• Experience of managing clinical budgets and resources
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Experience leading, implementing and reviewing quality improvement initiatives
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication, adaptable to audience and situation
