Principal – Nuclear Safety Management System Assurance

Overview

As Principal – Nuclear Safety Management System Assurance, you will lead the development and continual improvement of NSMS for highly regulated environments. You’ll ensure governance, policies and assurance methods meet regulator-ready standards and align with best practices. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to embed nuclear safety principles, governance excellence and resilience across programmes. This Adelaide-based role combines technical leadership with regulatory engagement to shape safe, compliant operations. A relocation option is available for suitably qualified personnel.

Responsibilities

• Lead NSMS documentation development and maintenance (policies, frameworks, processes, standards)
• Ensure artefacts align with regulatory requirements and international frameworks
• Develop governance and assurance methodologies to support effective oversight
• Provide leadership on safety culture, compliance programmes and continuous improvement
• Support audit readiness, regulatory engagement and development of compliance tools
• Review quality and technical integrity of governance and safety documentation
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, risk and programme teams to drive governance excellence

Key requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Science, Risk, Quality, Governance or related discipline
• Experience in nuclear, defence or safety-critical industries with governance/assurance focus
• Experience developing or assuring management systems or regulatory compliance programmes
• Strong understanding of nuclear safety principles and safety culture
• Knowledge of international nuclear frameworks (IAEA, WANO, INPO, ISO 9001, ISO 19443)
• Experience engaging regulators, audits or inspections
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills
• Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain defence clearance or suitable AUKUS clearance
