Overview
In this role you support Neuberger Berman’s non-U.S. retail business by providing strategic legal and regulatory guidance. You collaborate with global teams to implement changes, ensure compliance, and manage client onboarding and documentation. You’ll help shape regional policies and agreements, contributing to the firm’s cross-border private wealth initiatives. This is a chance to influence how we deliver compliant advisory services to private clients worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice on legal and regulatory issues affecting the non-U.S. retail business, including client onboarding and ongoing maintenance.
- Advise on regulatory frameworks such as FCA rules, AIFMD, MiFID II, GDPR, and MAS.
- Collaborate with U.S. legal, business, compliance, and operations teams to implement regulatory changes.
- Coordinate with regional compliance teams to keep policies current and fit-for-purpose across jurisdictions.
- Advise on legal requirements for distribution and delivery of products across non-U.S. markets, including licensing and registration obligations.
- Support development of new non-U.S. advisory initiatives, including drafting and updating advisory agreements and related documentation.
- Manage competing priorities and provide guidance on non-U.S. regulatory requirements to senior leaders and advisory teams.
- Assist local legal teams with reviewing general contracts, RFPs, and marketing materials.
- Develop and maintain monitoring processes to manage and reduce risk in the non-U.S. retail advisory business.
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor, barrister, or attorney admitted in England & Wales; overseas-qualified equivalents considered
- 5–8+ years of post-qualification experience in private wealth, asset management, or financial services law
- Strong writing and analytical skills
