Senior Consultant – CDM & Construction Safety (London and South East)

Overview

In this role you will support the delivery of Construction Design and Management (CDM) and broader construction safety services across a diverse project portfolio. You will operate within design and delivery teams, giving pragmatic CDM advice and helping clients meet statutory duties. You will embed risk management throughout the project lifecycle, especially across RIBA Stages 2–5. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate safety into design and delivery, and have room to grow towards Principal Consultant responsibilities. Responsibilities

• Deliver CDM Principal Designer duties in line with CDM Regulations 2015
• Contribute to design risk management, including hazard identification and risk reduction
• Attend design team meetings, risk workshops and project reviews
• Review drawings, specs and design information to identify safety risks
• Prepare and maintain CDM documentation: PCI, Design Risk Registers/Hazard Logs, HSF
• Provide clear, practical CDM compliance advice to clients and project teams
• Support Building Safety Act Principal Designer duties as required
• Manage own project tasks and deliverables to time, cost, and quality
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to embed safety into design and delivery
• Deliver allocated project outputs and maintain CDM documentation quality
• Communicate risks effectively to project stakeholders and build trusted relationships
• Contribute to safe and compliant project outcomes

Key requirements

• Proven experience in a CDM/construction safety role
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
• Practical experience contributing to Principal Designer duties
• Understanding of design processes and RIBA Stages 3–5
• Ability to review and interpret technical design information (drawings, specs, models)
• Experience supporting risk management through hazard identification and mitigation
• Good communication skills and confidence in meetings with designers and contractors
• Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
