Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Life Sciences)

Overview

In this role you lead the mechanical design and delivery of life sciences and industrial building projects, guiding them through all stages and coordinating cross-functional teams. You will engage with clients, manage key accounts, and help drive bids and resource planning, under a thriving mechanical services division. You’ll contribute to landmark projects and have the opportunity to advance towards Associate level as the team grows. This role suits a proactive engineer who wants to shape high-profile life sciences environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning and coordination of life sciences and industrial projects through all RIBA Stages
• Attend client and design team meetings
• Manage key client accounts
• Produce high-performance mechanical building services designs for landmark projects
• Assist the Director with project bids, contracts, resource and fee forecasting

Key requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering
• Experience on laboratories, clean rooms, or healthcare projects
• Experience in a client-facing role
• Good commercial awareness
• Ambition to progress within the organization
