Senior DevOps Engineer

Overview

As Lead DevOps Engineer at Leonardo UK, you will set technical direction for automation and secure software delivery across programmes. You’ll act as a subject-matter expert, shaping architectures and DevOps roadmaps while guiding teams and representing Leonardo externally. The role combines hands-on guidance with governance, enabling secure, scalable CI/CD and cloud-based delivery in customer environments. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges and drive secure-by-design practices.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for DevOps across programmes, shaping architectures and guiding delivery
• Define and influence DevOps roadmaps, innovation, and future automation strategies
• Lead feasibility studies, technology assessments, and solution recommendations for complex challenges
• Provide advanced guidance in CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and container orchestration
• Mentor engineers across experience levels to raise capability in DevOps
• Represent Leonardo at customer reviews, technical boards, and industry events
• Contribute expert input to bids, proposals, and technical strategy
• Champion secure-by-design principles, accreditation alignment, and engineering governance
