Overview
As an Applied AI Engineer at Scale, you will build end-to-end AI applications for public sector clients, from data creation to deployment. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to translate challenges into AI-driven solutions and contribute to datasets, evaluations, and model fine-tuning. The role focuses on delivering reliable AI systems that scale across global public sector use cases. This is an impact-focused opportunity to help governments leverage cutting-edge AI and drive tangible citizen outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Partner with public sector clients to understand challenges and define AI-driven solutions
- Build and deploy end-to-end AI applications into production using latest AI developments and open source models
- Collaborate with data annotation teams to generate high-quality training datasets
- Design and maintain evaluation frameworks to ensure model reliability and effectiveness
- Participate in customer engagements, with occasional travel (~2 weeks per quarter)
- Contribute to scaling AI capabilities in the public sector through hands-on knowledge sharing
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Mathematics, or related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 7+ years of post-graduation engineering experience with proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C++
- 2+ years applying AI/ML in production (deploying DL solutions, generative/agentic AI apps, or evaluations pipelines)
- Familiarity with cloud-based ML tools and platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Strong data-driven problem solving and ability to iterate on models and datasets
- Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaboration
