Overview

In this role you will lead aviation safety across Ground Handling, partnering with major airline customers to set safety standards and drive improvement. You will develop and embed a robust SMS, promote a Just Safety culture, and influence senior leaders to raise safety performance. You will work with regulators, customers, and operations to ensure compliance and effective incident learning. A regional travel footprint and frontline leadership create opportunities to shape aviation safety at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety strategy across Ground Handling operations for key aviation customers (easyJet, Air France, SAS)
• Ensure compliance with aviation and safety regulations; develop and implement new Ground Handling Regulations
• Develop and enhance Safety Management System (SMS) with standardisation across operations
• Champion Just Safety Culture; drive engagement, learning and continuous improvement
• Provide direct leadership to Health & Safety teams and support professional development
• Build partnerships with customers, regulators, and internal/external stakeholders
• Lead incident investigations and ensure lessons are embedded
• Provide strategic guidance to senior leaders to improve safety standards
• Drive best practice, innovation and operational excellence in the aviation portfolio

Key requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma, or an equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Aviation Safety, or related discipline
• Experience in aviation safety, cargo handling, ground handling operations, or similar operational environment (advantageous)
• Proven incident investigation experience and SMS implementation
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to engage and influence senior leaders, customers, and regulatory bodies
• Willingness to travel regionally and beyond as required
