Overview

In this role you lead the technical design for HMCTS workplace and network solutions, ensuring cohesive architectures and a clear roadmap. You act as the senior technical authority within the DTS Infrastructure team, guiding architects, product managers and suppliers to deliver innovative digital services for the justice system. You balance strategic architecture with hands-on Azure work, while mentoring colleagues and managing governance and risk. Responsibilities

• Own the technical designs of workplace and network solutions produced by the team
• Act as senior technical authority and align solutions across DTS Infrastructure Product teams
• Contribute to technical governance within the team and broader organization
• Bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders and manage communications
• Manage risks and mitigations for workplace/infrastructure
• Quantify and reduce tech debt, seek approvals for deviations when appropriate
• Lead capacity planning to ensure scalable solutions
• Translate business problems into DDD-based designs with maintainability and interoperability
• Produce architecture artefacts (HLDs, LLDs) and ensure documentation quality
• Balance strategic architecture with hands-on Azure management within the HMCTS tenant
• Lead on complex escalations and coach others
• Maintain up-to-date expert skills across technical areas
• Lead technical aspects of procurement and support cross-organisation procurement
• Participate in recruitment activities and be involved in governance and OOH/travel as needed

• Experience in architecting cloud-based solutions, especially Microsoft Azure
• Solid understanding of enterprise infrastructure and security principles
• Knowledge of network design and best practices
• Specialist knowledge in print technologies, Windows architecture and end-user devices
• Up-to-date with latest tech trends and industry patterns
• Experience with documenting designs and governance artifacts
