Assistant Director – Infrastructure Advisory: Major Projects and Private Finance – Various Locations

Overview

In this role, you will lead advisory work on major UK infrastructure projects, guiding clients through financial and strategic decisions. You’ll work within EY-Parthenon’s Infrastructure Advisory team to shape transactions, financial models, and procurement strategies. You’ll collaborate with government and private-sector clients to support decarbonisation, growth, and inward investment. The role offers leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and opportunities to influence economic and social infrastructure outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead small, dynamic teams delivering financial, commercial, and strategic advice on transactions and financial strategy
• Develop and nurture sector networks to support business development
• Support clients with option appraisals to enable informed decisions
• Oversee complex financial models: financing structures, affordability, value-for-money, sensitivity and scenario analyses
• Structure and advise on debt/equity processes, lender engagement, term sheets, and financing docs
• Structure procurements and evaluate bids for project sponsors; assist in bid drafting for infrastructure investments
• Present reports to senior clients to facilitate decision making
• Drive business development and contribute to EY’s growth strategies
• Lead origination and sales activities
• Contribute to sector thought leadership and EY’s perspective on major transactions financing
• Build and maintain senior client relationships across government and private sector
• Coach and develop junior team members

Key requirements

• Understanding of project finance and privately financed infrastructure, including debt/equity structures and procurement models
• Knowledge of UK infrastructure markets (regulated asset models, RAB, PPP/concession, availability-based structures)
• Ability to lead complex client engagements with senior stakeholders and make sound commercial judgments
• Ability to interpret and challenge complex financial analyses to support strategic decisions
• Business development capability including proposals and relationship development
• Strong leadership, coaching, and project management skills
• High-quality written and verbal communication, including board-level reports and presentations
• Flexibility to work in a diverse, dynamic team environment
• Advanced professional financial qualification (preferred) e.g. CIPFA, CA, ACA, CFA, MBA
• Extensive practical experience in the UK public/infrastructure sectors
