Network Operations Engineer, Sovereign Operations, Hampshire

Overview

In this role, you will design and operate secure, scalable private cloud networks for critical UK customers. You will work with cross-functional teams to automate network configurations and maintain air-gapped Kubernetes environments using Cilium and Istio. You’ll drive IaC and GitOps pipelines, enabling rapid, reliable deployments. You will contribute to enhancing network reliability, security, and performance while supporting customer implementations and on-call incident response. This is a mission-driven, hands-on role in a UK-based public sector team.

Responsibilities

• Operate and secure private cloud networks and cross-cluster communications
• Automate network changes and deploy configurations via IaC and GitOps
• Maintain and debug air-gapped Kubernetes environments with Cilium and Istio
• Provide technical guidance for cross-product integrations in customer environments
• Participate in on-call rotation to resolve incidents

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 3 years Linux systems administration and kernel-level/data plane cloud-native networking experience
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience designing resilient, secure networks across technologies
• DV UK security clearance or ability to obtain
• British citizen for compliance and security requirements
