Software Engineer – C++ / Qt

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer – C++ / Qt for a 12-month contract. As a Software Engineer, you will join a team developing solutions for the next generation of Air Defence Systems, delivering innovative products with a strong focus on safety, performance and dependability.

Role: Software Engineer – C++ / Qt

Pay: £65 per hour via Umbrella

Contract: Monday- Friday, 37 Hours per week, 12 month contract

Location: Bristol

IR35 Status: Inside

Security Clearance: SC to start, UK Eyes only project

Responsibilities

• Develop a new software Console product using modern software architecture.
• Take ownership of the development while working within a wider engineering team.
• Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements through to testing and automated proving.
• Produce clear technical documentation and ensure software integrates effectively with the wider system.
• Apply software engineering best practice and identify opportunities to improve development processes.

Essential Requirements/Skills/Experience

• Strong software engineering background with experience in C++ and Qt.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a wider team.
• Experience with multi-threaded applications and ideally DDS.
• Knowledge of Ada would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Def Stan 00-55, DO-178C, IEC 61508 or MISRA C++ would be beneficial.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, verification and maintainability.
