Field Service Engineer
Barker Ross is recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in mechanised irrigation and water management. We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a growing team, providing installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of specialist irrigation equipment across the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being out on the road, solving technical problems and working with a wide range of mechanical, hydraulic, diesel and electrical systems.
No two days will be the same. You will spend the majority of your time working at customer sites, with occasional workshop-based duties.
The Equipment
You will work on a variety of specialist equipment, including:
- Irrigation booms and hose reels
- Pumps and pumping systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Diesel-driven equipment
- Electrical control systems
- Automation, sensors and controls
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, maintain and repair irrigation systems
- Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel systems
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs
- Test equipment and ensure systems operate safely and efficientlyRead and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical manuals
- Provide professional technical support to customers on-site
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate records
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance
- Work safely and in accordance with company standards
About You
We are interested in hearing from engineers with experience in:

- FLT Engineering
- Maintenance Engineering
- Mobile Engineering
You do not need previous irrigation experience. If you have strong technical and fault-finding skills and enjoy working with machinery, you will be given the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge within the irrigation industry.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a field service, maintenance or engineering role
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience with hydraulics, pumps, diesel engines or industrial machinery
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Good communication and customer service skills
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
- A full UK driving licence
