Area Team Leader Building Control

Overview

In this role you lead the Building Control Area team to deliver safe, compliant development across Liverpool. You’ll supervise major schemes on site and shape policy with the senior leadership, while growing the service through market-facing activities. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to uphold high standards and drive city-wide investment in a world-class built environment. Responsibilities

• Lead on-site supervision of major construction schemes across the city
• Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of Registered Building Inspectors, trainees and structural engineers
• Collaborate with Head of Building Control to manage service and shape policy
• Support business growth through competitive fee proposals and market expansion
• Represent Liverpool City Council as a senior technical expert
• Enforce policy such as the Safety at Sports Grounds Act across football stadiums
• Act as deputy to Head of Building Control as required
• Contribute to major city-wide investment and regeneration initiatives

Key requirements

• RICS, CABE, CIOB or MIFE with LABC/CIOB Level 6 or equivalent experience
• demonstrable competency to Specialist Level including Class 3H
