Advanced Pharmacist – Acute Medicine and Emergency care

Overview

In this Band 8a Pharmacist role, you lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service for Acute and Emergency Care within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. You will collaborate with the Pharmacy Team Lead, clinicians, and external partners to promote safe, effective, and cost-conscious medication use. You’ll provide specialist pharmacy input on wards, participate in MDT reviews, and act as an independent prescriber where approved. Responsibilities

• Deliver and develop clinical pharmacy services within Acute and Emergency Care
• Provide specialist advice on ward rounds and MDT reviews
• Lead pharmacy liaison with senior pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff to optimise medication use
• Act as independent prescriber within approved therapeutic areas
• Provide leadership to the Integrated Medicine directorate and deputise for the Pharmacy Team Lead
• Utilise ePMA and digital systems to support safe prescribing and medicines optimisation
• Collaborate with external health professionals and ICS stakeholders to streamline processes and promote best practice
• Promote safe, evidence-based and cost-effective use of medicines

Key requirements

• Registered Pharmacist with General Pharmaceutical Council
• Significant hospital pharmacy experience including Acute and Emergency Care
• Experience delivering clinical pharmacy services to a specialist level
• Post-graduate diploma in clinically pharmacy or equivalent (desirable)
• Independent Prescribing qualification (desirable)
• Strong leadership and multidisciplinary communication skills
