Consultant or Senior Consultant Transport Modeller

Overview

As a Transport Modeller you will contribute to high-impact UK infrastructure projects within a multidisciplinary team, delivering strategic and microsimulation models to support appraisal, investment decisions, and policy outcomes. You will work across major clients, mentor junior modellers, and help shape sustainable transport solutions while advancing Stantec’s growth in transport modelling capabilities. This role offers scope to align your interests with project management, data analytics, and new mobility analytics within a leading consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical modelling tasks for a range of clients and support junior team members
• Develop, calibrate, validate and apply strategic transport models
• Use modelling outputs to inform project appraisal, scheme development and strategic decisions
• Communicate results through reports, presentations and client discussions
• Stay updated on transport policy, guidance and best practice
• Provide technical guidance, training and oversight to junior modellers
• Support project management activities including proposals, tenders, budgets and invoicing
• Role can be tailored to align with technical interests and business goals

Key requirements

• Degree or higher-level qualification in Transport Planning, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related discipline
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in transport modelling and strategic modelling principles
• Proven capability in VISUM, CUBE, SATURN and/or EMME
• Experience with Paramics, VISSIM, Aimsun, DIADEM or TUBA is advantageous
• Experience delivering modelling projects for public and/or private sector clients
• Strong report-writing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
• Interest in project management, proposals, tenders and commercial bids
• Mentoring or supporting junior colleagues is beneficial
• Membership of or progress towards CIHT or CILT
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and Python
