Overview
In this role, you will lead the formation of a procurement function for a newly independent UK business, reporting to the Managing Director. You will design and implement a strategic procurement agenda aligned with growth, while guiding supplier transitions, contracts, and processes for a standalone operating model. You will act as a trusted advisor to cross-functional leaders, driving value, risk management, and supplier partnerships. This is a rare chance to shape procurement capability from the ground up and influence major commercial decisions. You will operate in a dynamic, transformation-focused environment with significant executive visibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a procurement strategy aligned with growth and commercial objectives.
- Lead the transition to a standalone business, including contract novations, supplier onboarding, renegotiations, and onboarding of new suppliers.
- Establish procurement governance, processes and controls suitable for an independent organisation.
- Drive supplier management, complex negotiations, and value delivery across spend categories.
- Provide procurement reporting, analytics, and performance metrics to leadership.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support transformation initiatives and change leadership.
- Ensure continuity of supply and risk management during the separation programme.
- Position procurement as a strategic business partner across Operations, Sales, Finance, IT, HR, and more.
Key requirements
- Significant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supplier relationship management.
- Proven track record in complex commercial negotiations and high-value supplier relationships.
- Experience in transformational, fast-paced, or high-growth environments.
- Experience supporting business separations, carve-outs, mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale transformations is advantageous.
- Demonstrated success in developing procurement functions, governance frameworks, and policies.
- Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Strong contract management, supplier performance, governance, and commercial risk understanding.
- CIPS qualification or active progression; degree in related field desirable but not essential.
