Building Surveyor

Overview

In this Building Surveyor role, you join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy in London to deliver a mix of professional and project work across education, healthcare, and public sectors. You will own projects with support from a collaborative team, shaping refurbishment and maintenance initiatives from inception to completion. The position combines technical advisory, contract administration, and client liaison, with clear development and Chartership pathways. Responsibilities

• Provide professional Building Surveying advice across a diverse property portfolio
• Conduct condition surveys, defect investigations and technical due diligence
• Lead refurbishment, maintenance and improvement projects from inception to completion
• Act as Contract Administrator across JCT and NEC contracts
• Produce specifications, schedules of work and technical reports
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects
• Mentor and develop junior surveyors while expanding own technical and commercial expertise

Key requirements

• Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline
• MRICS status or active progression towards Chartership
• Experience across both professional Building Surveying and project work
• Strong knowledge of building pathology, construction technology and refurbishment
• Experience with JCT and/or NEC contract administration
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and the Building Safety Act
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted client relationships
• Experience across education, healthcare, commercial property, local authorities, defence or central government beneficial but not essential
