Criminal Advocate / Duty Solicitor – Liverpool

I am working with a multi-service law firm in Liverpool that is looking to appoint an experienced Criminal Advocate/Duty Solicitor to join their busy and growing criminal defence team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about publicly funded legal work and confident managing a varied criminal caseload.

The Role

The successful candidate will handle a broad range of criminal defence matters, including:

• Representing clients detained at police stations
• Managing a caseload covering the full spectrum of criminal offences
• Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, including summary trials
• Working within a fast-paced environment while maintaining high professional standards

Candidate Requirements

• Solicitor with 1+ year PQE in criminal matters
• Police Station Representative qualification
• Criminal Litigation Accreditation preferred (or willingness to obtain it)
• Strong advocacy and communication skills
• Confident managing a demanding caseload with minimal supervision
• IT proficient and comfortable using case management systems
• Pragmatic, professional, and positive approach to work
• Passion for publicly funded legal work
• Excellent client care and team-working skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines
