Lead Data Scientist

Overview

In this role you will lead the Data Science team within a growing fintech start-up backed by a major banking name. You’ll drive thought leadership, tackle complex data problems, and translate insights into decision-making and new ways of working. You’ll enable rapid model prototyping and then scale successful solutions for the business. You’ll establish a program of continuous learning to keep the team world-class, with a focus on hypothesis-led work and measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape the Data Science team and its strategy
• Provide thought leadership on data science approaches and problem solving
• Implement and oversee a program of continuous learning and development
• Ensure work is hypothesis-led and insights drive decisions and new workflows
• Guide rapid model development and scalable deployment of solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data into business impact

Key requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in ML model development
• Proficient in Python, SQL, ETL pipelines, PySpark
• Cloud data solutions experience with Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory
• Proven experience leading a Data Science team
• Experience designing and delivering automated decision-making systems at scale
• Excellent commercial and financial acumen
