The Opportunity:
Are you looking for your next exciting career move? British Transport Police have an excellent opportunity for a Resource Planning Manager to join the Force Planning Unit. As a Resource Planning Manager with BTP, you will lead the operational activities of the Force Resource Planning Unit (FRPU), ensuring resources are deployed effectively and efficiently to support frontline policing, major events, operational incidents and key force objectives.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing operational leadership to the Force Resource Planning Unit and managing the performance and development of Resource Planning Officers.
- Overseeing resource allocation for policing operations, football matches, major events and critical incidents, ensuring operational demand is met effectively.
- Working collaboratively with divisions and stakeholders to maximise available resources, maintain operational resilience and support frontline policing activity.
- Acting in support of the Force Resource Lead to provide specialist resource management advice and fulfil Bronze Resources responsibilities for planned and unplanned events.
What you’ll bring to the team:
Essential Criteria:
- Educated to A-Level standard or (or equivalent) with experience working in an operational or resource planning environment.
- Proven track record of managing teams in a large, multi-disciplined operational organisation.
- Experience in performance management, coaching and mentoring customer-facing teams.
- Strong Stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to analyse data, provide operational advice and lead responses to time-critical incidents.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience leading a team working flexibly across multiple locations.
- Experience managing and implementing change.
The FRPU will be operational between 08:00-16:00, Monday to Friday and postholders will be required to work within these parameters. However, hours can be flexible within 07:00-17:00 each day.
