Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Mental Health (PICU)

Overview

In this role you will lead as a consultant in the PICU at Roseberry Park Hospital, providing senior psychiatric care on Bedale Ward and coordinating with treating teams. You will drive safe, evidence-based patient management, act as Approved Clinician for MHA duties, and support junior staff while liaising with community services. The post emphasizes multidisciplinary leadership, formulation and discharge planning, and service-wide quality improvement. Responsibilities

• Act as Responsible Clinician for Bedale Ward in collaboration with another consultant or psychologist
• Provide proactive leadership and support force reduction initiatives
• Co-chair 24-hour Report Out meetings for care decisions, risk, and leave planning
• Attend and contribute to 72-hour formulation meetings and transfer/discharge planning for own patients
• Perform seclusion reviews for Bedale Ward patients
• Manage Mental Health Act duties as Approved Clinician for Bedale Ward patients
• Supervise junior medical staff
• Liaise with ward and community teams and other consultants
• Coordinate annual leave with colleagues
• Ensure compliant, multidisciplinary patient care pathways

Key requirements

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
• Fully registered with the GMC with licence to practise
• Eligible for Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or within 6 months of gaining CCT
• Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months
• Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
• Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills
• Experience in leadership within a multidisciplinary team
