Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute as a Mechanical Engineer within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, driving the detailed design of mechanical systems for complex infrastructure projects. You will collaborate across disciplines to translate concepts into plans and specifications, supporting energy efficiency and resilient design. You’ll work with cross-functional teams and clients to ensure technical excellence and high satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Define design duties with Project Manager and team leaders
• Carry concept design through to detailed design
• Coordinate with design team to finalize designs and approve manufacturers and samples
• Maintain strong client and design-team relationships to foster repeat business
• Support personal training/CPD needs and help improve company practices
• Implement tasks following QA systems and ISO9001/ISO14001 procedures
• Assist with CAD resource planning

Key requirements

• BEng, MSc or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical design for commercial/infrastructure projects
• Design coordination across stakeholders and disciplines
• Experience with mechanical systems, HVAC, and resilience including cooling, ventilation, humidification, fuel oil and flue systems
• Experience with large-scale chilled water and adiabatic cooling systems
• Proficiency with relevant project/design analysis software
• Project management capability with limited supervision
• Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
