Accounting specialist

Overview

In this role you will support month-end close activities and maintain accounting records, partnering with internal teams and external providers to drive accurate reporting. You will lead journal entries, reconciliations, and control checks while seeking continuous process improvements through automation. The position emphasizes collaboration, stakeholder communication, and leveraging finance tech to enhance efficiency. Responsibilities

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation
• Review external service provider activities and resolve reconciling items
• Support accounting areas including duties and taxes, revenue, transportation costs and rebates
• Prepare monthly variance explanations for SOX purposes
• Perform control checks and remediate errors promptly
• Collaborate with teams to resolve issues and improve processes
• Manage reporting and stakeholder communication
• Support automation, reporting enhancements, and continuous improvement using Power BI, Alteryx and other finance technologies
• Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and business requests

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Qualified or partly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of finance and accounting experience
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Detailed knowledge of accounting processes and principles
• Experience with month-end close, journal preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
