Engineering Manager

Overview

As Engineering Manager, you will lead engineering, maintenance, site services and capital projects across Building Products sites to boost reliability and reduce waste. You’ll set engineering standards, drive TPM and Lean, and oversee major and minor capital initiatives to improve equipment performance. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work with cross-functional teams to raise safety, compliance and operational excellence, shaping a sustainable, high-performance site network.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Engineering, Maintenance and Facilities teams across multiple sites
• Create and implement engineering strategy, standards and processes to drive reliability and continuous improvement
• Provide leadership for automated manufacturing equipment across upstream and downstream processes
• Drive TPM, Lean, 5S, Kaizen, Visual Management and Value Stream Mapping to reduce waste and optimise cost
• Establish consistent engineering standards including CMMS, training, service delivery and contractor management
• Lead cross-functional problem solving and root-cause analysis for product, process and equipment improvements
• Manage major and minor capital projects from planning to commissioning with PMO governance and KPIs
• Manage capital expenditure budgets with forecasting and financial control
• Ensure compliance with PUWER, LOLER and electrical safety and proactively manage risk
• Maintain safe and professional work environment for employees, visitors and customers
• Provide engineering performance reporting to senior management and travel between sites as required
• Oversee site services (security, cleaning, catering) and ensure facilities are well maintained
• Ensure high safety, quality and compliance across sites

Key requirements

• Significant senior engineering/maintenance leadership experience in manufacturing
• Degree-level engineering qualification or equivalent
• Experience delivering large-scale installations and capital projects (>2.5m)
• Strong financial/budget management including CAPEX
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment
• Knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement; TPM experience advantageous
• Knowledge of health & safety and legislative compliance
• Proven experience managing contractors and external service providers
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
• Decisive, analytical and creative problem-solver with resilience in a fast-paced environment
