Overview

In this role you will lead the digital training function to support staff competency across the Trust, aligning with NHS Education & Training Standards and Digital Transformation programmes. You will work with the EPR and clinical teams to standardise training approaches and drive engagement for digital systems across multiple sites. You’ll plan strategically while managing delivery of complex digital education solutions, blending learning methods and ensuring timely, measurable impact. This is a cross-functional, change‑oriented role with a clear impact on safe and effective use of digital health systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Digital Training Team and ensure performance against departmental objectives
  • Design and deliver high‑quality training packages
  • Regularly evaluate the education and development service with the Head of Digital Education
  • Assess risks, resource needs, cost and change management for training solutions
  • Deliver bespoke training solutions per Trust requirements
  • Oversee implementation of new information systems across Health Informatics
  • Develop creative learning solutions and blended learning programmes including organisational change
  • Create training plans with resource identification and staff release coordination
  • Develop benchmarking processes (training needs analysis, evaluation) and ensure reporting
  • Manage and update Learning Management Systems (LMS) and assign work packages
  • Develop rotas for large implementations across multiple sites and shifts
  • Act as Digital Skills Development (DSD) Lead for UHMB
  • Provide leadership to ensure timely, high‑quality training delivery
  • Conduct annual appraisals and deputise for Head of Digital Education when needed
  • Contribute to KPI development and performance reporting
  • Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and clinical/operational teams

Key requirements

  • Degree level education or equivalent in Education, Learning & Development, Digital Training, Health Informatics, Business Change or related field
  • Teaching/training or assessment qualification (e.g. Certificate in Education, CIPD L&D, TAP)
  • Experience managing training, education or workforce development programmes
  • Experience designing and delivering face-to-face, virtual and blended learning
  • Experience developing training plans, needs analyses and evaluation methodologies
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to motivate teams through organisational change
  • Expert knowledge of Lorenzo, EMIS and Fraxinus Systems
  • Desirable: postgraduate qualification in Education, Digital Transformation, Leadership or Change Management
  • Desirable: experience implementing an EPR or other large-scale digital transformation
