Junior Cyber Security Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support BA’s technical security solutions to protect customers and operations. You will work with the Cyber Team and global colleagues to implement, maintain, and improve security capabilities aligned to business needs. This hands-on position offers learning from experienced engineers and exposure to modern security technologies. Responsibilities

• Implement and configure security tools to mitigate threats to British Airways
• Follow threat- and risk-led processes to support business priorities
• Maintain awareness of attacker techniques and tune security controls accordingly
• Review the security landscape and report findings, helping implement improvements
• Stay updated on industry trends and evaluate new technologies with the team
• Understand BA’s business functions to align work with organizational objectives
• Collaborate with stakeholders and third-party service providers

Key requirements

• Understanding of foundational cyber security principles and frameworks (e.g., NIST)
• Analytical mindset with structured approach and attention to detail
• Clear communication to explain complex concepts to colleagues
• Ability to manage tasks, prioritise, and support team objectives
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and develop cyber security skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Security tools (Defender, Entra, Sentinel), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and scripting/coding (Terraform, Python, KQL)
