RF Systems Engineer

Overview

As an RF Systems Engineer, you design and implement advanced RF data link systems to support high‑performance weapons across the product lifecycle. You will work within the Data Link Systems team to translate requirements into robust system designs and lead technical discussions. You’ll tackle system-level proving, hardware-to-software integration, and production transitions, impacting the reliability and capability of critical defence technology. This role offers exposure to cross‑functional collaboration and opportunities to shape cutting‑edge communications in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to research, concept development, and production of RF data link systems
• Manage requirements and support system design across the lifecycle
• Lead or participate in design reviews and produce clear engineering documentation
• Support system-level proving, including software and firmware integration
• Coordinate transition of development hardware to production, including environmental/qualification testing
• Collaborate with external suppliers and procurement teams
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical information to stakeholders

Key requirements

• Experience in systems engineering, RF engineering, microwave engineering or related discipline
• Knowledge of RF and microwave systems with interest in advanced RF communications
• Understanding of requirements management, systems design and modelling
• Familiarity with antenna systems, waveform design and implementation
• Knowledge of system-level RF modelling and real-time DSP for high-bandwidth systems
• Experience with modelling, autocode generation, signal processing or research based on technical publications
• Understanding of software/firmware integration, system proving, design certification and product qualification
• Strong communication skills for reports and presentations
