Sr. Software Engineer (Python)

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer on Proofpoint’s XFI team, you will help scale and integrate Post Delivery Protection & Response with major email platforms like Microsoft and Google. You’ll design reliable distributed systems, improve security and performance, and own deployments from development to production. This role emphasizes security, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-availability email integrations. You’ll work in a DevOps culture to ship impactful solutions that scale with tenancy and traffic.

Responsibilities

• Design and build reliable distributed systems with low latency
• Maintain and support business-critical systems with scale and latency in mind
• Ship code to production daily via CI/CD
• Research and implement security measures; process sensitive data securely
• Monitor production environments and identify next improvements from product data
• Improve user experience for Outlook clients on Windows and Mac
• Collaborate to solve complex problems and impact ambitious projects
• Learn and apply security-conscious development practices
• Contribute to scaling efforts for per-tenant and global usage

Key requirements

• Python 3.10 or other OO programming languages
• AWS services: SQS, SNS, ECS, ECR, Lambda
• DynamoDB and PostgreSQL (NoSQL/SQL databases)
• Terraform
• CI/CD tooling (CircleCI)
• Docker, Git, GitHub for versioning
• Experience with product integration with Google and Microsoft email platforms
• Experience with data and infrastructure at scale is a bonus
• Willingness to work in a DevOps culture with a focus on security and reliability
