Senior Cyber Security Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, implement and maintain cyber security for subsea production systems and SCADA environments, partnering with engineers and product teams to embed security across the lifecycle. You will apply OT security expertise to protect subsea assets and industrial networks while ensuring regulatory compliance. The role focuses on secure architectures, risk assessments, and secure coding practices within safety‑critical environments. Responsibilities

• Design secure architectures for subsea control systems and networks
• Conduct cyber security risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability analyses for SPS and SCADA
• Enforce secure coding practices across PLC, HMI, and control software
• Ensure compliance with IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 27001, and industry regulations
• Lead security reviews and audits of system designs, software releases, and projects
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for cyber events in ops environments
• Implement network segmentation, secure remote access, and monitoring for OT
• Collaborate with engineering to secure industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP)
• Define authentication, encryption, certificate management, and PKI needs for subsea systems
• Provide mentorship on cyber security best practices to junior engineers and project teams
• Support customer engagements with security documentation and compliance evidence

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Significant experience in cyber security engineering within industrial/OT environments, preferably oil & gas or energy
• Strong knowledge of ICS, SCADA, and subsea production systems architectures
• Experience with IEC 62443 or related standards (highly desirable)
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, TCP/IP, and secure design
• Experience with network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, segmentation)
• Experience in risk assessment methodologies, penetration testing, or vulnerability management
